RESEARCH
The Beautiful Dream Society prepared a 23-page feasibility study to evaluate the approach needed to successfully rescue, care for, rehabilitate, and legally represent trafficked persons in Lesotho under the guidelines of The A21 Campaign (thea21campaign.org). This was accomplished through meetings with government officials, police, UN officials, other NGOs, and local leaders.
SKILLS TRAINING
The Beautiful Dream Society developed a skills training program for the Beautiful Gate Care Centre and trained Basotho men and women to create designer jewelry and scarves. BDS provided the training, raw materials, and supplies for these products that are being sold throughout South Africa and the U.S.
US VOLUNTEER COTTAGE INDUSTRY
The Beautiful Dream Society oversees groups of women in the US who volunteer their time weekly to create designer accessories for sale to benefit the Beautiful Dream Centre.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Beautiful Dream Society has provided scholarships for over 25 young people who were vulnerable to human trafficking by providing their tuition and funding their school expenses. Without this assistance, these young people would not be able to attend school.
DONATIONS
The Beautiful Dream Society has raised over $25,000 on behalf of the Beautiful Gate Care Centre in Maseru, Lesotho. This organization houses and cares for abandoned and orphaned babies under the age of five and facilitates adoptions of these children.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Members of the Beautiful Dream Society have had the opportunity to speak publicly on behalf of the cause in the country of Lesotho and the US in many different venues.
MOVING IN
A facility has been chosen, leased, and remodeled in the city of Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. A team of seven people moved there from the US in late December 2010 to begin work to open the Beautiful Dream Centre. A team of approximately four additional people will move in 2011.
INCORPORATION
The Beautiful Dream Society is incorporated as a Foreign Mission Society in the State of Oklahoma, and legally certified to conduct business in Lesotho. The Beautiful Dream Society is currently in the process of obtaining US-501(c)3 non-profit status.
