One of the most unexpected and miraculous ways that the Lord has moved in our trip to Africa is through the connection that we made with Mpho Mahopolo whom I wrote about in the blog about the organization Women Against Rape. I believe I mentioned to you that Mpho had a twin sister named Mphonyana Mofekeng who lives in Maseru. Mphonyana is a part of an non- denominational intercessory prayer group here in Maseru called Women in Evangelism which meets several times per week and has been for many years to pray for the country of Lesotho!!!
I did not know these ladies, although Jana had mentioned that she had a friend who had a sister in Lesotho, but they invited us 4 women to come to 2 of their meetings. One meeting was on Friday at 1pm at the Maseru United Church and the other meeting was today at 2pm at the Bible Society Building where Rivers of Life Church rents space. We did not know what the agenda was for these meetings until we arrived, but we were ready for anything. It ended up that we WERE the agenda for these meetings. They wanted me to share the dream, “bring the word”, sing a song (acapella since there was no sound system) and then they wanted Teresa, Danita and Jana to share as well. There were completely different people at each meeting—women, a few men and young people.
After some absolutely beautiful singing with no instruments by the Women In Evangelism (which also includes men by the way), I stood up before the approximately 30 to 50 people at each venue and told my dream. They determined that since most all of the people spoke English, I would not need an interpreter. I greeted them in the name of my husband, Mark Crow, who I told them sent his greetings and from Victory Church who I told them sent their greetings. As I began to share the dream, an amazing thing happened. The women began to cry and the wipe the tears. It began to dawn on me, especially after the session today, that these women were taking my dream personally. They took it to mean that God had heard their personal cries. I could tell that they were touched as they gasped as I told each part of the dream. After I shared the dream, I sang for them a verse and 2 choruses of “Highest Praise” and gave a brief testimony about God’s healing power in my life. Then I preached to them from John 6 about the boy who gave the loaves and the fishes, and the disciples who distributed the bread, but it was Jesus who had the plan and made the miracle happen. I shared with them that they have what it takes to feed the hungry multitude of Basotho people, those hungry in body and spirit. I compared them to the boy with the bread and fish and the disciples who only had to carry out the plan, not create it. I told them that if they fed the people the gospel that is in their hand there would be enough to overflow into all of Africa. I have to tell you that normally, as most of you know, I am not that much of a ‘preacher’—more of a teacher or speaker, but the anointing of God came over me as I’ve never preached before.
Teresa, Danita and Jana (during the Friday meeting—she had to leave us early this morning to head back for Botswana) got up and gave powerful words of testimony and exhortation from the Lord as well and Danita spoke about spiritual authority and prayed for the women. They prayed for us, we prayed for them.
After both meetings, the leaders of the meetings got up and reiterated that they had heard from God today that now they knew that He loved them and that He had not forgotten them, and that this was the beginning of the answer to their prayers.
Then Mphonyana, which was a complete surprise to us, got up at the end of the 2nd meeting and said that just as the 3 angels from God had visited Abraham when he thought he and his wife were past child-bearing years, so we had visited them when they had given up hope that God would answer their prayers when it seemed impossible. She said that just as Abraham had cooked a meal and served the angels that they needed to give us a gift. The first thought that came to my mind was that we couldn’t take it, but the Lord spoke to me that we needed it as a seed for what God wanted to do in them.
At the end of the meeting the pastor handed me an envelope with 324 Maloti which equals around $32 in American money. I gave the pastor 40 Maloti, gave Teresa and Danita each 10 Maloti to keep as a reminder to pray for the people and I gave 100 Maloti to our driver, Cabelo, to thank her for coming and taking her time and using her gas to assist us.
She then asked us how we had become connected to the “Wailing Women” as she called them. We questioned her and she told us that although their official name is the Women In Evangelism, they are known as the ‘wailing women’. She said that if she could have handpicked anyone to hear our words, that it would have been these women who have been wailing and crying for their country.
May God bless the Women In Evangelism and I thank Him for hearing the Cry of Lesotho.
